Hi everybody!
I’m here today quickly to show you this beautiful book for children called Not So Wise Owl by Robert James Parfett.
I was very excited to get this book to review as it looked so interesting! The book tells the story about tatty old owl who could not give any good advice and everyone in the forest was wondering what happened to old wise owl.
The book is written in rhyme, full of jokes and giggles. Children enjoyed seeing their favourite woodland animals featured in this book such as squirrel, woodpecker and spider.
I really enjoyed illustrations in this book. It kinda reminded me of the books I was reading when I was little… many many years ago.
The story would be most suited for children 4+ years old, just because of vocabulary used in the book, however, younger ones will definitely enjoy looking at illustrations. Most of children were giggling when owl was talking nonsenses and that’s what a good children book should do.
I had an amazing opportunity to get in contact with Not So Wise Owl author, Robert. There is what he said about this book:
“Coming from an owl mad family and having always lived near woods, the owl is a bird which has always been very much part of my life. It seemed only fitting to dedicate a story to these beautiful creatures. We all know the myth about owls being wise, but I tried to imagine what the owl would be like without its wisdom. An owl bothered day and night by advice seekers would not be in a fit state to answer any questions. The result was The Not So Wise Owl!”
